Certain types of applications need to output text messages in audible format, for instance to communicate in an easier way with blind people.
This class provides a PHP interface to synthesize speech from text using an external tool named Festival.
Despite the actual work of translating text to speech is done by the Festival tool, this class simplifies the work of interfacing with this tool by generating and retrieving the files that Festival takes as input and output.

This is a simple wrapper class that can call the Festival text to speech generation tool of the University of Edinburgh.
The class can take strings of text that are stored in work files for passing to the Festival tool programs as text input sources.
The class provides functions for generating audio speech files in the WAV format or to output the resulting speech sound to the machine sound system.
